Funding for Courses by the Department of Social Protection for those who are Unemployed
The Technical Employment Support Grant (TESG)
Many people do not know that in cases where your local Education Training Board (previously known as FAS) is unable to provide training in a particular field - and where the applicant is currently unemployed and seeking training in said field - Intreo / Social Welfare may provide funding for the prospective learner to receive such training at a private college, such as Pery Square Business College. One of the schemes setup for this purpose is The Technical Employment Support Grant (TESG).
What Do You Need to Do?
- Visit your nearest Intreo / Social Welfare office. All Intreo Placement / Social Welfare Officers should be aware of the TESG.
- Demonstrate to your Intreo Placement / Social Welfare Officer that attending this course is part of your Action Plan to return to work
- If Intreo / Social Welfare deem the course you wish to attend to be an essential step in your Action Plan, they may fund you up to €500 per year for training. They will give you a form to be completed by us and returned to them for approval, this can be a quick process although at holiday times this may take longer so apply as soon as possible!
- Because Pery Square Business College will not be paid unless you complete a course we will ask for a €50 deposit to cover our administration costs, once you complete the course this will be refunded to you.
