Purpose

Touch typing is now a skill that everyone can and should learn.
Most of the tasks that we used to perform with a pen and a pad of paper are now being done on our computers, laptops and Tablets.  Everything from sending emails, writing reports, college assignments, even scheduling our workdays is digital.
If you spend a significant amount of time at a desk, in front of a computer then you probably know that sitting and typing can take a toll on your body. Achy shoulders, stiff neck and sore wrists are some of the side effects of poor posture and bad computer habits. As you learn the proper way to sit and cultivate better habits, your arms and shoulders will relax and your energy levels will stay consistent throughout the day. Touch typing isn’t just about increasing your typing speed and reducing errors, it’s about adopting healthy computer habits to reduce the risk of injury and provide increased comfort.
It is time to STOP Typing with 2 Fingers  & START Typing more efficiently.

Course Details
Initially you will learn in the first 5 lessons which finger hits each of the letters on the keyboard and following this you will commence our typing tutor software for the remaining 15 lessons to progress with your speedbuilding and accuracy to reach a minimum of at least 20 words per minute.
At the end of the course you will receive your Touch Typing certificate.
You can also book follow-on Speedbuilding and Audio Typing/Digital Transcription courses if you wish to progress. Both of these are priced at €10 per hour.

Who Should Attend

Purpose
Every Child and Student should know their way around a Computer Keyboard as they will spend a lot of time on it either with assignments or emails.  Later for work or college this is a beneficial skill that will always stick with them and give them a compeditive advantage.
This course provides Touch Typing lessons and instructions by a tutor and Typing instructor program. This course can be started any time that is suitable for you and the college.  It is run in 1 hour sessions preferably 3 times per week or more.

General Aims
The aim of this course is to teach touch typing skills and improve typing speeds. You will learn by memory where all the letters are located on the keyboard and what fingers look after which keys all without looking at your fingers or the keyboard at all.  The workload is divided up between all fingers and emphasis is put on correct posture when spending time on a computer. Speeds of 15-20 words per minute are a minimum expectation at the end of this course and with sufficient effort and practice higher speeds are easily achieved.

Course Details
Initially you will be drilled 5 times by an instructor to teach you the placement of fingers on the keyboard and then you can come in at your own convenience to train yourself with 15 speedbuilding and accuracy sessions on a typing tutor software.
After the course has finished you will have 2 more months to improve your speed and when you come to collect your certificate your speed will be tested again and certified.
